Palo Alto — May 15, 2006 — Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP is pleased to announce that William F. Colgin, Jr. has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Tax Practice. Mr. Colgin, a former partner with the tax practice of Fenwick & West, brings his broad litigation experience in large, complex, and high-profile tax cases to one of the largest global tax practices as listed by Tax Business Magazine.

A former trial attorney in the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., Mr. Colgin focuses his practice on federal tax controversy. He has represented both corporate and individual taxpayers in complicated disputes in numerous trial and appellate courts across the country. He also has extensive pre-litigation experience advising clients on audit and examination defense and strategy, administrative appeals and settlements. He is "an exciting addition to the firm's thriving national tax practice," said Morgan Lewis partner Miriam Fisher, who leads the firm's Tax Controversy Practice in Washington, D.C.

Gary Wilcox, head of the firm's Global Tax Practice in Washington, D.C. and former IRS Deputy Chief Counsel, says "We integrate our tax consulting, policy and controversy advice to provide the best solutions for many of our large, multinational clients that are regularly on IRS audit, and Bill will help us bring that approach to our West Coast client base."

Mr. Colgin is the second high-profile partner to join Morgan Lewis from Fenwick. Dan Johnson, one of the best-known trial lawyers in California, joined Morgan Lewis last year. The firm further increased its California presence this year with the addition of Gary Hermann, a tax partner formerly with the San Francisco office of Orrick, and Lucas Chang, a business and finance partner based in Palo Alto and Beijing, formerly with the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini. Morgan Lewis also recently expanded its California Labor and Employment Law Practice with the addition of partners Carla Feldman and Barbara Fitzgerald in Los Angeles; of counsel Julius Turman in San Francisco; and Orange County lawyers, Barbara Miller of counsel, and Jesse Randolph, associate.
