Dallas, March 2, 2005: Morgan Lewis announced today that Jerry R. Selinger and J. Pat Heptig, previously with Jenkens & Gilchrist in their Dallas office, have joined the firm as partners in the litigation practice. Jerry and Pat are highly experienced patent litigators who bring to the firm a significant, successful track record, particularly in key Texas jurisdictions. Jerry and Pat’s presence at the firm is an important component of Morgan Lewis’ expansion strategy as well as a response to client need.
Jerry is a prominent member of the Dallas legal community and a frequent speaker at well-known intellectual property bar associations, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the ABA IP Section. He is the former Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Texas (1996-97); on the Board of Directors of the America Intellectual Property Law Association; a former Director of the State Bar of Texas (1998-2001); and he is currently Trustee of the Dallas Bar Foundation. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA. Pat is also a recognized and active lawyer. His affiliations include the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Both lawyers have strong technical backgrounds, particularly in the electronics industry, and have experience at the trial and appellate levels, as well as in front of the International Trade Commission. In particular, Jerry has been involved in over 60 patent cases at the trial and appellate levels and served as lead counsel in the majority of these cases, significantly augmenting Morgan Lewis’ experienced trial team.
Morgan Lewis opened its Dallas office in September 2004, when a group of employee benefits, ERISA and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) lawyers joined from Jenkens & Gilchrist.
