Morgan Lewis has the knowledge and background to provide our accounting firm clients with the full range of services they may need in almost every area of litigation—from malpractice and securities fraud defense to white collar criminal and tax controversy work, from bankruptcy litigation to labor and employment lawsuits, and even intellectual property matters. Our lawyers have represented accounting firms for more than 20 years, and have represented each of the Big Four firms, other national firms, and many regional firms. Our accounting firm representations have included malpractice cases, securities fraud class actions, Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations, enforcement actions by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and adversary proceedings brought by bankruptcy trustees.
With some 700 litigators throughout our firm, we combine relevant legal experience, accounting industry knowledge, and courtroom savvy to help meet our accounting firm clients' litigation needs. We handle the entire range of issues associated with dispute resolution, with a special emphasis on the coordination of national litigation, class actions, and other complex business and corporate litigation, and we have an active trial practice. Nine of our litigators are fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of our partners was the chief counsel to the chief accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and another was the Deputy Commissioner of the IRS, Enforcement.
We know that accounting firms have more choices than ever when it comes to choosing legal representation for litigation. Morgan Lewis combines the depth and breadth of experience, global reach, a winning track record, and a commitment to client service. Our Accounting Litigation Practice provides our clients with the integrated solutions needed to manage the challenges and complexities of litigation in today’s business climate: seamless access to sophisticated legal knowledge, cutting-edge technological resources, and effective strategic thinking.
Client Needs Define Our Service
Whether defending a relatively straightforward breach of contract claim or an especially complex high-profile class action, we structure our representation around our clients’ specific legal needs. We start by putting together a team of attorneys and, as appropriate, other professionals that bring together the legal knowledge and litigation experience necessary to respond effectively to a particular matter.
That team has ready access to Morgan Lewis leaders in such areas as:
- Securities law
- Professional malpractice
- White collar litigation and government investigations
- Tax
- Bankruptcy
- Labor and employment
- Intellectual property
But that’s just the first step. Our client service is defined by efficiency and seamless service. We are available to respond our clients’ concerns, day or night, and we work together with our clients to ensure cost-conscious representation.
