International commerce has always been of interest to Michael Anderson. When he first joined Morgan Lewis, he envisioned himself working on deals and transactions for a variety of international clients. Almost immediately, he was given the opportunity to work overseas.
I enjoy practicing law in an international environment. Morgan Lewis has such a broad practice. For anyone who has an interest in international commerce, this is an amazing place to be.
I spent three years in Indonesia, and one of my first assignments involved working for one of the world’s leading telecommunications carriers. We helped them successfully modernize, expand and operate the telecommunications system on the island of Sumatra. It was an enormously complex undertaking. We initially handled financing negotiations with the World Bank and several private lenders, then we helped the client actually build the local telephone system, negotiating supply and construction contracts with suppliers from all over the world. I worked alongside French, Japanese, German and Indonesian business associates to make sure all the pieces fit together.
Thanks to Morgan Lewis, I wear many different hats and have had a lot of exciting experiences. This firm has allowed me to build a practice that is tremendously rewarding in its diversity.
