Morgan Lewis's Washington, D.C. office represents clients whose interests are affected by nearly every facet of law in the nation's capital. The Washington, D.C. office dates back more than 50 years, and over time has become predominant in key areas involving the intersection of business and government. Many of our lawyers are former senior government officials.

Today, the Washington, D.C. office has nearly 300 lawyers and has been expanding in targeted areas. We offer clients the advantage of working with lawyers who have a deep understanding of the inner workings of the federal government. Since the start of our Washington, D.C. office, we have been fortunate to recruit nationally recognized attorneys who served the government as senior regulators and decision makers. The cadre of high-ranking government officials began with a former chairman of the Federal Trade Commission; a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission; a deputy, then acting, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; and an Internal Revenue Service commissioner.

The tradition of high-level recruitment continues today, with the Washington, D.C. office being home to former government officials who served as White House Counsel, Associate Attorney General of the United States, Assistant Attorney General for the Environmental and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Attorney, state Solicitor General, Deputy Secretary of Labor, Solicitor of Labor, Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Deputy Solicitor of Labor, Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC, Chief Counsel to the Chief Accountant at the SEC, Special Counsel to the SEC Chairman, Deputy Commissioner of the IRS for Services and Enforcement, Deputy Chief Counsel at the IRS, Senior Litigation Counsel at the FTC, and board member of the National Labor Relations Board.

At Morgan Lewis, where we counsel clients in nearly every stage of business and are involved in some of the country's largest transactions, we seek to provide clients a regulatory perspective within a business framework. Clients are served in this way by our presence in Washington, D.C. and by our former government officials practicing in many areas and disciplines. Among the practices interacting daily with agencies of the government are Antitrust, Business and Finance, FDA and Healthcare, Energy, Environment, Government Investigations and Enforcement, Intellectual Property, Investment Management, Labor and Employment, Litigation, Real Estate, and Tax.

We also represent many of the Washington, D.C. area's leading companies and institutions and our lawyers and staff are dedicated supporters of legal aid groups and local charitable organizations.
