Lisa Stephanian Burton is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Burton counsels clients on a variety of labor and employment issues, including compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) matters; employment practices and policies; structuring the workforce; labor and employment implications of mergers and acquisitions; and hiring, firing, and reductions in force (RIF). She represents clients before state and federal agencies as well as before state and federal courts.
Ms. Burton also assists clients with immigration matters such as securing employment-based visas and permanent residence for employees of both large and small companies, including, but not limited to, information technology and other professionals, executive and managerial employees, investors, medical professionals, and scientists and researchers in academia and in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Burton was an equity partner in the labor and employment practice of an international law firm.
Ms. Burton earned her J.D., with distinction, from Emory University School of Law in 1992, where she was named to the Order of the Coif. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from Smith College in 1989.
Ms. Burton is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
