Georgette A. Schaefer is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and a member of the firm’s Private Investment Funds Practice. Ms. Schaefer has expertise in the areas of general corporate law, securities transactions, and securities law compliance. She serves as outside counsel to many of the largest pension funds in the United States, universities, insurance companies and investment managers with respect to investments, securities transactions and securities law compliance.

Ms. Schaefer's recent speaking engagements have included presentations to the Institutional Limited Partner Association (ILPA), the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA), and the Private Equity Women Investor Network (PE WIN).

Before joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Schaefer was of counsel at a large, international law firm. Prior to that, she was senior vice president and counsel at USLIFE Corporation and spent seven years as an attorney for The Equitable.

Ms. Schaefer earned her LL.M. in corporate law from the New York University School of Law in 1997 and her J.D. from the Rutgers University School of Law – Newark in 1987. She received her M.A. in anthropology from New York University and her B.A. in sociology from Jersey City State College, where she was admitted to the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Ms. Schaefer is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
