Georgette A. Schaefer is a partner in Morgan Lewis' Business and Finance Practice and a member of the firm's Private Investment Funds Practice. She focuses her practice on advising clients on private equity, venture, hedge, mezzanine, distressed debt, real estate, and infrastructure funds, and customized captive funds and separate accounts. Ms. Schaefer represents many of the largest pension funds in the United States, universities, insurance companies and investment managers with respect to their investment programs.

Ms. Schaefer is frequently called on to speak on private investment fund matters and has presented at meetings of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA), the American College of Life Insurance Counsel (ACIC) and the Private Equity Women Investor Network (PE WIN). Ms. Schaefer is ranked in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers and the Legal 500, listed in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers - Private Funds and has been a BTI Client Service All Star recipient.

Previously, Ms. Schaefer was Senior Vice President and Counsel at USLIFE Corporation and spent seven years as a regulatory and investment attorney for AXA Equitable.

Ms. Schaefer earned her LL.M. in corporate law from the New York University School of Law in 1997 and her J.D. from the Rutgers University School of Law - Newark in 1987. She received her M.A. in anthropology from New York University and her B.A. in sociology from Jersey City State College, where she was admitted to the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society and was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Ms. Schaefer is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
