Zheng "Andy" Liu is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Liu focuses his practice on intellectual property counseling, procurement, and enforcement of patents for computer-related technologies.

Mr. Liu has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications relating to Internet technologies, game mechanics, computer networks, computer security, computer software, relational databases, and semiconductor devices.

Mr. Liu earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis Law School in 2011. While in law school, he worked at the university's technology transfer center, where he reviewed and evaluated patent disclosures by professors and students. Mr. Liu was also a a patent summer associate at a general practice firm in Seattle and a school year clerk at a patent boutique firm in San Jose. Mr. Liu also worked pro bono at Solano County Public Defender's office, where he represented indigent clients in various court hearings. He successfully argued several motions, resulting in dismissals in those cases. Mr. Liu also participated in a jury trial, which ended with an acquittal on a drug related charge and a hung jury (11-1 for not guilty) on a weapon related charge. 

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Liu began his career at Cincinnati Financial Corporation, where he developed automation testing programs for commercial insurance applications. He later worked at ICAP, Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., and Interactive Data Inc., where he developed and tested software applications for financial instruments trading, investment banking, and bond pricing.

Mr. Liu earned his M.S. from Oregon State University in 2004 and his B.S. from Beijing JiaoTong University in 2002.

Mr. Liu is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
