Laura Yu Liu is the director of marketing and practice development for Morgan Lewis's Greater China Practice. Ms. Liu works closely with practice group leadership on a full spectrum of marketing and practice development activities. She supports the business goals of the firm’s practice groups with strategic marketing and communications activities, best practice processes, and improvements.

Ms. Liu regularly consults with partners across the firm's offices to identify practice development opportunities; creates new marketing strategies accustomed to China's legal market; leads drafting and preparations of new business pitches, proposals, and presentations; develops client events and webinars; and directs strategic communications efforts, sponsorships, and co-branding opportunities.

Prior to joining the Marketing Department of Morgan Lewis, Ms. Liu spent more than 15 years working for international law firms in Beijing and in Toronto and has accumulated extensive law firm experience. In her earlier career, she assisted many leading multinational companies—including GM, GE, Fedex, UPS, and SmithKline Beecham—and participated in the negotiations for their joint venture projects in China.

Ms. Liu received her M.A. in English literature in 1989 and her B.A., with honors, in economics in 1986 from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing. Ms. Liu also holds a diploma from the European Union in simultaneous interpretation and is an EU certified translator. Ms. Liu is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
