Kenneth M. Kulak is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Energy Practice. Mr. Kulak represents energy companies in federal and state litigation and regulatory proceedings, including ratemaking, as well as transactional matters. Mr. Kulak also advises utilities, commercial and industrial companies, and investors on a wide variety of energy-related projects and issues, including electricity and natural gas sales, renewable energy, and cogeneration. He is a member of the firm's Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Kulak worked as a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where he represented the United States in contract and employment law cases. His experience includes trial and appeal of complex contractual disputes involving finance, accounting, and federal taxation.
Mr. Kulak maintains an active pro bono practice and was honored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association for his work on behalf of homeless individuals in Philadelphia. Mr. Kulak also served as co-counsel to the American Diabetes Association in class action litigation to protect the rights of individuals with diabetes who are arrested in Philadelphia, which resulted in a model settlement and educational materials now used across the country. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Homeless Advocacy Project.
From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Kulak served as a law clerk to Judge Raymond J. Broderick of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Before obtaining his law degree, Mr. Kulak worked as a software engineer and consultant to computer and telecommunications companies. He has been involved in all phases of software design and development.
Mr. Kulak is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
