Carol A. Field is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Field’s practice focuses on labor and employment litigation in administrative and court proceedings at the trial and appellate levels. She has represented public and private sector employers in the full spectrum of employment-related matters, including discrimination claims based upon race, national origin, gender, age, marital status, religion, pregnancy, disability, and retaliation. Ms. Field has represented employers in whistleblower lawsuits, class actions, wage and hour collective actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and wage disparity claims brought under The Equal Pay Act. She also has trained management and employees on such issues as workplace diversity, sexual harassment, discrimination, disability accommodations, and violence in the workplace. Ms. Field has provided consultation to the governor’s office concerning proposed legislative changes to Florida’s Whistleblower Act.
Ms. Field has successfully defended employers in high-profile state and federal court lawsuits and administrative agency proceedings. One of Ms. Field's clients commented: "It is difficult to put into words how encouraging it was to be represented by someone with her skills and dedication." The client's in-house counsel echoed this sentiment, stating: "Her legal analysis of the issues in this suit and the law applicable to this case was impeccable. . . . Her evaluation and analysis was dead on."
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Field served as a senior assistant attorney general for the State of Florida. She was also an associate attorney at two Miami law firms, where she represented national and local companies in general civil litigation matters in state and federal court at trial and appellate levels.
Ms. Field was a guest speaker and published author for The Florida Bar’s 3rd Annual Labor and Employment Certification Review. In 2006, she was a guest speaker for the Governor’s Convention of Inspector Generals (GCIG) on the topic of Florida’s Whistleblower Act.
Ms. Field received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1993, where she participated in the mock trial competition and was a research assistant for Professor Susan Stefan. She received her B.A. in sociology from Florida Atlantic University in 1990, where she received the Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society’s Community Service Award.
Ms. Field is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
