James W. McKenzie, Jr. is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities Practices. He advises clients on public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, and joint ventures. He has extensive experience advising boards of directors of public companies.
Mr. McKenzie serves as the primary outside counselor in most of his client relationships. He has particular experience working with clients in the life sciences, technology, consumer goods, REIT, and finance industries.
Mr. McKenzie is a member of the firm's Advisory Board and the deputy leader of the firm's Business and Finance Practice. He was recently named a 2012 Client Service All-Star by BTI Consulting Group.
From January 2000 to September 2002, Mr. McKenzie was the EVP and general counsel of Verticalnet, Inc., a NASDAQ-listed public company, where he supervised a 16-person legal department. He was involved with Verticalnet in its IPO, debt offerings, strategic alliances, joint ventures in Europe and Japan, and over 25 acquisitions.
Mr. McKenzie received his J.D./M.B.A. from Wharton and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and his A.B. from Dartmouth College.
Mr. McKenzie is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
