Melissa D. Hill is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Hill focuses her practice primarily on employee benefits plan litigation and general employment litigation, including ERISA litigation, employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wage and hour litigation, and employee benefits matters. Ms. Hill represents employers in single-plaintiff, multiplaintiff, and complex collective and class action litigation before state and federal courts. This includes representing employee benefits plans and employers in disputes with plan participants and beneficiaries.
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Hill routinely counsels employers in a broad range of industries with respect to the overtime requirements and exemptions of the FLSA, state wage payment statutes, commission plans, and other wage and hour requirements. She also routinely advises clients on a variety of day-to-day employment issues, including reductions in force, decisions regarding adverse employment actions, and litigation avoidance.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Hill was an associate in the litigation practice of a prestigious Philadelphia law firm, where she represented clients in complex litigation matters.
Ms. Hill earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2004, where she was a recipient of the James Wilson Scholarship and the Public Service Award. She also served as a senior editor for the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law and as a clinical intern in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. She earned her B.S. from the University of Delaware in 2001.
Ms. Hill is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
