Kent E. Basson

Associate

Mr. Basson is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice, with a focus on patent prosecution and litigation. Attorneys in this practice offer a full range of counseling, prosecution, licensing, and litigation services to U.S. and foreign enterprises in a variety of industries. We counsel clients on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret protection issues, as well as matters arising from franchising, advertising, the Internet and e-commerce, outsourcing, and managed services.

Prior to pursuing his law degree, Mr. Basson was an engineer for more than 19 years, including five years as a nuclear submarine officer. He also is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.

Mr. Basson earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2001. He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1979.

Mr. Basson is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
