Michael S. Kraut is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Kraut's practice focuses on complex litigation matters and, in particular, securities-related matters. He represents registered investment advisers, hedge funds, broker-dealers, public issuers, other large financial institutions, and their officers and directors in securities class action litigation, arbitrations, and investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, self-regulatory organizations, and various state securities regulators. Mr. Kraut also counsels clients on regulatory and compliance issues and conducting internal investigations.
Mr. Kraut currently serves as vice chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the New York office, where he works to develop and implement a pro bono strategy for that office. In connection with the firm's pro bono program, he was seconded to the City of New York Law Department for several months during which he tried a number of jury trials, achieving complete defense victories in the only two cases that went to verdict.
Mr. Kraut was formerly a judicial intern for Judge Kevin T. Duffy of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1999, and his B.A., with high distinction, in political science from the University of Michigan in 1996.
Mr. Kraut is admitted to practice in New York.
