Rudy Fink is a technical specialist in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property and Litigation Practices. Mr. Fink concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation. His patent litigation work is primarily focused on matters involving computer software, Internet technologies, and wireless communications. In addition to his general work in litigation, he has a well-developed background in identifying patents to assert, identifying prior art, industry standards, and source code review.
Mr. Fink's work primarily involves the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and has also been involved in matters before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Fink worked for several years in intellectual property litigation for a first-tier international law firm, where he was involved in patent suits involving computer security, Internet protocols, web browsers, catheters, software compilers, flash and DRAM memory, and programming languages.
Prior to entering intellectual property litigation, Mr. Fink spent more than 10 years working in software engineering, primarily in academic and corporate research. He also consulted in the retail, finance, and petroleum sectors. Mr. Fink has worked on a wide array of projects, including wireless (cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, 802.11) sensor networks, laser microscope systems, embedded systems, 3D medical simulators, real-time financial systems, video-on-demand systems, device drivers, imaging, cluster computing, virtual worlds, and compilers. His programming language history includes C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, Python, and Ruby.
Mr. Fink is currently a student at the University of Houston Law Center, where he expects to earn his J.D. in 2012. He earned his B.S. in computer science, with a focus in networking and security, from Rice University in 2002.
