John S. Battenfeld is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. His practice focuses on representation of management in a variety of labor and employment issues under California and federal law.

Mr. Battenfeld regularly assists clients in defending wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, wage and hour and other employment-related cases. He has represented employers before a variety of state and federal governmental agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the California Labor Commissioner and the U.S. Department of Labor. He has defended employers in a number of wage and hour class actions and collective actions brought under California law and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Mr. Battenfeld has also advised employers about the implementation of alternative dispute resolution procedures, and defended cases in alternative forums, such as private judging, the American Arbitration Association, and the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc.

Mr. Battenfeld represents clients in a variety of industries, including the retail store, airline, health care, technology, and financial services industries.

Mr. Battenfeld received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and his B.A. from Haverford College.

Mr. Battenfeld is admitted to practice in California.
