K. Catherine Roney is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Roney focuses her practice on complex business disputes and products liability lawsuits. She has represented plaintiffs and defendants in serial litigation and major matters throughout the United States and in a variety of industries, including consumer products, energy, health insurance, food, pharmaceutical, and retail.

Ms. Roney has recently represented clients within the energy industry in large-scale commercial contract disputes. She also leads the representation of a food industry client in more than fifty products liability cases that are part of a nationwide serial litigation.

Ms. Roney counsels clients on complex discovery issues, including eDiscovery obligations under various state and federal guidelines, client data system mapping for litigation, preservation obligations, and mass eDiscovery projects. She advises clients on data security breach incidents, including coordination of national notification efforts for affected individuals and notification of state authorities and national credit reporting agencies pursuant to state data breach laws.

In addition to her commercial and products liability work, Ms. Roney has represented several clients in a pro bono capacity in applications for asylum and special immigrant visas. Recently, she obtained legal status in the United States for two Iraqi nationals who had assisted the U.S. Forces as translators.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Roney served as a law clerk to Justice Russell M. Nigro of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Roney earned her J.D. in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. While in law school, she received the Sparer Summer Fellowship for public interest work at the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania. She also was a senior editor for the Journal of Constitutional Law. She earned her A.B., cum laude, in anthropology with a certificate in African studies from Princeton University in 2000, where she was a recipient of the Shultz Fellowship award for independent study on health policy in Africa.

Ms. Roney is admitted to practice Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
