Elliot H. Steelman is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Steelman represents employers in a wide array of industries and in all aspects of employment law before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. His practice includes litigating complex employment matters, class actions, and single-plaintiff disputes involving discrimination and wrongful discharge, wage and hour violations, noncompetition agreements and misappropriation of trade secrets, and litigation under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
Mr. Steelman counsels employers of all sizes on a full range of labor and employment law matters, including issues under Title VII, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, OWBPA, FLSA, WARN, ERISA, NLRA, and state law causes of action. He has led internal investigations into various harassment and discrimination claims. He also advises employers on individual and group termination decisions, business reorganizations and corporate transactions, leaves of absence, accommodating disabilities, workplace privacy, employee handbooks and policies, employment agreements, severance agreements, and independent contractor agreements. He is active in Morgan Lewis's Workforce Change Practice, which is devoted to the management of employment, labor, and benefits issues arising from mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, startups, spinoffs, workforce reductions, shutdowns, outsourcing, offshoring, and other types of business restructuring
Mr. Steelman received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2003, where he served as a notes and comments editor for the Brooklyn Law Review. He received his B.A., cum laude, in history from Washington University in St. Louis in 1999.
Mr. Steelman is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
