Ada Wong is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. As a legal advisor, she educates her clients to make better informed decisions. Her practice spans a range of technologies including antibodies, cell biology, polymer chemistry, microbiology, medical imaging, medical devices, genomics, pharmaceuticals, biofuel production, and alternative energy. Ms. Wong also has working familiarity with microarrays based on prior experience at Affymetrix.
Ms. Wong has drafted and prosecuted applications on behalf of startups, universities, and large multinational organizations. In addition to global portfolio management, her practice encompasses due diligence, freedom to operate analyses, and strategic counseling. Ms. Wong's experience includes patent mining to thwart competing interests, addressing ownership, inventorship, design-around, and patent infringement issues. She has conducted freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses in the context of R&D planning, IPO disclosure, IP acquisition, licensing, and underwriting decisions.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Wong was a judicial intern at the Santa Clara County Superior Court, where she drafted recommendations for civil law and motion judges.
Ms. Wong is currently pursuing her M.S. in bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University, expected in 2013. She earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University in 2004, where she was awarded the High Tech Law Certificate for her studies in intellectual property. While in law school, Ms. Wong was a legal intern at Affymetrix and worked closely with the chief IP counsel in transactional and patent prosecution matters. Prior to and concurrent with law school, she worked as a technical advisor then a summer associate at a local patent boutique. Ms. Wong received her B.A. in molecular cell biology from U.C. Berkeley, where she was also educated in C and C++. She is fluent in Cantonese.
Ms. Wong is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
