Khalif I. Ford is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice. Mr. Ford handles the full spectrum of benefits and compensation-related services for clients. Attorneys in this practice represent a wide range of clients, from small startup companies and family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 firms. We also represent financial institutions, fund companies, investment managers, and other service providers in connection with their business activities involving healthcare plans. Our services include assistance with the design of all types of compensation and benefits plans, advice on regulatory compliance, assistance with self-audits and error correction, and representation in employee benefits litigation, from individual cases to class action claims.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Ford served as a senior analyst for the Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration, Office of Exemption Determinations from 1999 to 2007. Mr. Ford’s responsibilities included reviewing and analyzing applications for individual exemptions under the prohibited transactions and fiduciary provisions of ERISA; drafting a digest or summary of the case setting forth the factors to be considered; developing a recommendation for consideration in the disposition of an exemption application; drafting Federal Register notices proposing exemptions; and, thereafter, granting exemptions. Mr. Ford published more than 40 exemptions in the Federal Register.
Mr. Ford received his J.D. from Howard University School of Law in 2000 and his B.A. in political science and history from Duke University in 1997.
Mr. Ford is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
