Marc J. Shanker is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Shanker's practice encompasses a variety of commercial and product liability litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and focuses on the defense of class actions, mass torts, and other complex commercial litigation. He has represented corporations in numerous types of class actions, including product liability and securities. He has also defended corporations in a number of product liability and mass tort cases, including serving as national coordinating counsel for the past 10 years.

Mr. Shanker has a wide range of commercial litigation experience, including experience advising clients involved in litigation, arbitration (AAA, FINRA, and ICDR), and mediation concerning toxic torts, environmental liabilities, commercial disputes, product liability, insurance coverage, and criminal and regulatory investigations and prosecutions. He has handled disputes concerning underlying securities, environmental, asbestos/silica, toxic tort, product liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions claims, and various employment practices. Mr. Shanker also has experience conducting internal corporate investigations and advising clients on compliance matters.

Mr. Shanker is a member of the firm's class action and commercial litigation steering committees. He also participated in the firm's Trial Advocacy Program, spending six months as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn where he successfully tried several cases.

Mr. Shanker earned his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School in 2002. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for Judge Ricardo M. Urbina of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Shanker earned his B.A., summa cum laude, and in economics and Spanish from Emory University in 1999, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is fluent in Spanish and English.

Mr. Shanker is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York.
