James L. Beebe is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation and Intellectual Property Practices. Mr. Beebe focuses his practice on intellectual property matters. He has enforced and obtained patents in the oil and gas technologies, chemical processes, dental devices, and a variety of mechanical arts. He also represents clients in copyright and trademark matters.
Mr. Beebe's patent litigation background includes discovery, infringement analysis, pre- and posttrial briefing, and product inspections. His patent prosecution background includes U.S. and foreign applications, office action responses, and examiner interviews. He also represents clients licensing their technologies.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Beebe was an associate at a full-service international law firm.
Mr. Beebe received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006, where he was managing editor for the Houston Journal of International Law and named to the Order of the Barrons. While in law school, Mr. Beebe served as judicial intern to Justice Charles W. Seymore of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals of Texas.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Beebe worked for 12 years in the pulp and paper industry in various engineering and management positions. During this time, he had extensive exposure to process improvements and product development in the newsprint manufacturing and paper recycling areas, as well as newspaper printing. During his final six years, he focused on control and information systems, including control system analysis and design and information system support.
Mr. Beebe received his M.Ch.E. from the University of Houston in 1998 and his B.S. in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1991.
Mr. Beebe is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas; and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
