Rachel Morgan is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Morgan counsels clients on a variety of labor and employment issues. She has defended clients in harassment and discrimination matters, and has led training sessions for clients on these same subjects.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Morgan was a senior associate in the labor and employment and litigation sections of a leading international law firm. In addition to her work on labor and employment cases, she represented pharmaceutical companies in complex multidistrict litigation in both federal and state courts and handled a variety of complex commercial and general litigation matters.

Ms. Morgan earned her J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 1999, where she was a member of The Review of Litigation. She earned her B.A., cum laude, in English from Texas A&M University in 1994.

Ms. Morgan serves as a director of the board of advisors for the Texas A&M University 12th Man Foundation and is a member of the Texas A&M Former Student Association. She is also a member of the board of directors for Contact Crisis Line, a charitable organization in Dallas, and has served on the executive committee for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Celebrity Waiter fundraising event.

Ms. Morgan is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Selected Representations

  • Represented a manufactured home company in the arbitration of a former employee's claims of sexual harassment, hostile work environment, FMLA retaliation, assault and battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, which resulted in a complete denial of all causes of action brought by the claimant.
  • Represented an energy trading corporation in a personal injury and employment case that involved charges of hostile work environment, sexual harassment, breach of contract, assault and battery, negligent hiring and supervision, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, which resulted in a complete denial of all causes of action brought by the claimant.
  • Assisted in the defense of a large telecommunications company against charges of sexual and racial discrimination in a hostile work environment. Motions drafted for summary judgment led to dismissal of the sex discrimination claim and the case settled after the pretrial conference for a negligible amount.
  • Assisted in the defense of a public hospital against claims of discrimination and retaliatory action based on the plaintiff’s national origin, in violation of Title VII and the constitutionally protected right to free speech. The court granted a summary judgment in the hospital's favor in each cause of action.
  • Defended a national retail chain against claims of false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
