Meredith S. Auten is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Auten concentrates her practice on white collar litigation. She also handles related civil litigation, including False Claims Act actions.

Ms. Auten has defended federal and state criminal and civil cases involving allegations of healthcare fraud, procurement fraud, theft of trade secrets/intellectual property violations, antitrust violations, environmental violations, tax fraud, bank fraud, securities fraud, telemarketing fraud, and other various business frauds. Her practice also includes defending complex government investigations. She has been involved in a number of no-charge decisions involving Fortune 500 companies and individual professionals. Ms. Auten also has experience conducting internal investigations and regularly counsels clients on the development and oversight of compliance and ethics programs, with a particular focus in the healthcare field. Additionally, she has handled a number of False Claims Act cases in the healthcare and defense contracting industries and handles complex commercial litigation cases, including class action matters.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Auten was an associate in the White Collar Litigation Practice at a large national law firm.

Ms. Auten lectures and writes on white collar crime topics, including the False Claims Act, conducting internal investigations, and waiver of the attorney-client privilege. She has most recently spoken on "Conducting Internal Investigations after Enron & KPMG" at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute CLE programs in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Ms. Auten earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1999 and her B.A., magna cum laude, in history and French from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.

Ms. Auten is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She currently serves as the national co-chair of the ABA's Criminal Justice Section White Collar Committee Young Lawyers Division. She was a co-founder and co-chair for a number of years of the Philadelphia Chapter and Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Young Lawyers' Division. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers' Association and the Federal Bar Association's Women's Criminal Defense Lawyers Committee. Additionally, Ms. Auten is a former member of the Criminal Justice Appointment Panel for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She currently serves as a hearing committee member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Auten is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
