Gary S. Williams is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice, resident in the Palo Alto office. Mr. Williams’s practice emphasizes projects requiring technical knowledge in electronics, computer architecture, computer software, digital signal processing, and integrated circuit memory design. In particular, his practice focuses on patent prosecution in these technologies, prelitigation patent validity and infringement investigations, intellectual property strategy counseling, patent and software licensing, and trademark prosecution.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Williams was a partner at a prestigious intellectual property boutique. He also worked in the electronics industry, at first designing and upgrading computer-aided design software for Signetics, and later designing MOS dynamic memories for Signetics and Zilog.
Mr. Williams has authored more than 500 patent applications, overseen large portfolios of domestic and foreign trademarks, and participated in dozens of prelitigation patent infringement and validity studies.
Mr. Williams is a member of the American Bar Association, Silicon Intellectual Property Law Association, San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association, and The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
Mr. Williams received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1982 and his B.S., summa cum laude, in physics and engineering and applied science from Yale College in 1976.
Mr. Williams is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
