Sean K. McMahan is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. McMahan's practice focuses on complex employee benefit litigation, with an emphasis on representing corporate clients, plan sponsors, and fiduciaries in ERISA class action litigation.
Mr. McMahan has represented defendants in litigation involving excessive fee and employer stock claims, ESOP litigation, and retiree benefits claims, as well as Title II based defined benefit pension plan claims and individual benefit litigation.
Mr. McMahan has published articles and presented on ERISA litigation topics. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Southern Employee Benefits Committee, and a contributor to the Fiduciary Responsibility Subcommittee of the Labor and Employment Section of the ABA.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. McMahan was an associate in the Atlanta office of a prominent nationwide firm. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. McMahan served approximately ten years in the United States Air Force.
Mr. McMahan earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2004 and his B.S., cum laude, in computer information systems from Chapman University in 2001.
Mr. McMahan is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Georgia and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Sixth, and Eleventh Circuits; the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida; and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia.
