Michael R. Holzman is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice. Mr. Holzman focuses his practice on ESOPs, qualified and nonqualified employee benefit plans, stock option plans, and other equity-based arrangements and related securities law issues. He has drafted and acquired IRS approval of qualified retirement plans, designed and drafted nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and negotiated and prepared documents for mergers and acquisitions using ESOPs. Mr. Holzman has counseled clients in the use of ESOPs and its applications, such as employee buyouts, ownership succession, and corporate reorganizations.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Holzman was an associate at a U.S.-based law firm, where he was a member of the employee benefits and executive compensation groups in their tax section.
Mr. Holzman received his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004 and his J.D., cum laude, from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 2000. While in law school, Mr. Holzman served as senior notes and comments editor of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. He received his B.A. in history and political science from Miami University in 1997.
Mr. Holzman is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia.
