Andrew J. Schaffran is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice, resident in its New York office. Mr. Schaffran is nationally recognized in the employment law field, particularly in the financial services industry. Mr. Schaffran co-heads the firm's financial services industry employment law practice, and he regularly counsels and represents securities firms, insurance companies, and other financial services companies in all aspects of employment law, including complex and single-plaintiff employment litigation of discrimination, wage and hour, whistleblower, defamation, and other claims; arbitration before FINRA panels; and advice concerning compensation, corporate diversity, and ADR policies and programs. He also has litigated employment disputes, provided workplace harassment and diversity training, negotiated collective bargaining agreements, and rendered legal advice and assistance in a variety of other industries, including professional services, post-secondary education, media, pharmaceuticals, bio-ingredients, entertainment, hotel and restaurant, retail, perfumes and cosmetics, construction, apparel, newspaper, not-for-profit, jewelry, manufacturing, and trucking.

From 2003 through 2011, Mr. Schaffran was named one of the leading U.S. lawyers for employment law by Chambers USA, based on the views of clients, peers, and other industry professionals.

Active in professional associations, Mr. Schaffran is co-chair of the ABA Litigation Section's Subcommittee on Securities Employment Litigation. Mr. Schaffran is also a member of the SIFMA Compliance and Legal Division and a member of the Labor and Employment Law Sections of the ABA and the New York State Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker and author, having co-chaired employment law seminars and spoken and published articles on a wide range of labor and employment law issues.

Also active in civic organizations, Mr. Schaffran is a member of the Board of Directors and past president of the Foundation for Educating Children with Autism, which provides educational programs and services for autistic children.

Mr. Schaffran received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979, where he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and the recipient of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers' Award for Advocacy. He received his B.S. from Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1976, where he served as an intern with the New York State Standing Committee on Labor.

Mr. Schaffran is admitted to practice in New York.
