John J. Franchini is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. His practice focuses on a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on mortgage and banking counseling and litigation, government and corporate investigations, bankruptcy litigation, real estate litigation, and commercial contract and credit disputes. Mr. Franchini has experience counseling a variety of clients, including a nationally known residential mortgage company, a global banking and financial services company, and a multinational information technology corporation, on risk management, litigation avoidance, and compliance with shifting industry standards. He has represented banking companies, accounting firms, and other Fortune 500 companies in a broad range of litigation, bankruptcy, and regulatory matters.
Mr. Franchini currently counsels nationally known residential mortgage companies, including one of the three largest services of residential mortgages in the U.S., in connection with their efforts to respond to changes in the legal and regulatory landscape that have been caused by increased defaults and foreclosures. He regularly advises clients with regard to bankruptcy matters, and currently represents an international accounting firm on issues relating to bankruptcy retention and fee collection.
Mr. Franchini also has a background in business contract disputes and disputes relating to asset sales and asset valuation. He represented a national continuing-care services provider in a lawsuit against the estate of an insurance company in liquidation. The matter dealt with disputes relating to contract interpretation and the valuation and effect of reinsurance programs. Mr. Franchini currently represents one of the nation's largest retailers with respect to real estate and land use matters. Mr. Franchini has been selected as a "Rising Star" in Pennsylvania.
A graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, and a Ritter Scholar Award winner, Mr. Franchini is active in public service and in the community and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Lehigh University, a member of the Board of Directors of the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania, a member of Board of Trustees of Saint Joseph High School, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Ancora Hospital.
Mr. Franchini is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania only and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
