Andrew J. Gray IV is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice, resident in the Palo Alto office. Mr. Gray's practice focuses on IP litigation and prosecution and on strategic IP counseling.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Gray was a partner at a leading intellectual property boutique. He has represented clients before federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States.
Besides IP litigation, Mr. Gray counsels both established and start-up companies on issues relating to computer and Internet law, on transactional matters involving the establishment and financing of technology firms, and the sale and licensing of technology and entertainment properties. His practice also consists of patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and portfolio management for both start-up and Fortune 500 firms.
After receiving his J.D. from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Herbert Law Center in 1992, Mr. Gray clerked for Judge James T. Trimble of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. In addition to completing course work in physics, he received a degree in economics from the University of Texas in 1989. During law school, he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, a finalist in the Ira S. Flory Mock Trial Competition, and a regional finalist in the Robert C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
A member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the International Trademark Association, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, Mr. Gray is also a frequent public speaker at institutions around the country, including Stanford Law School, the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
