Ronald E. Manthey is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice and co-chair of the Noncompete and Trade Secrets Practice. Mr. Manthey has represented numerous Fortune 500 companies in class actions and other complex litigation involving national and stage wide claims of sex, age, race, pregnancy, and national origin claims. He has also litigated and tried numerous FLSA collective actions and state wage and hour class actions. Mr. Manthey has tried cases in all areas of employment law claims, having represented employers in nearly 30 employment law jury and bench trials in state and federal court. He has argued before numerous courts of appeals, both federal and state. Mr. Manthey has also assisted clients in the areas of workplace electronic privacy and disability law.

Mr. Manthey has arbitrated numerous discipline and discharge cases in the union context. He has arbitrated several termination/enhanced severance agreement disputes, as well as unfair competition cases. He has been involved in various mediations, both private and court ordered, including three national class action mediations involving age, race, and disability claims for clients in manufacturing, airline, and retail concerns.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Manthey was an employment partner at a leading international law firm and has practiced in Texas since 1983. Prior to starting private practice in 1983, Mr Manthey was chief of the Labor and General Law Division for the Judge Advocate General's Office at Headquarters Strategic Air Command and received the Meritorious Service Medal upon his resignation.

Mr. Manthey is a frequent speaker on numerous labor-related topics such as age discrimination, AIDS, drug testing, sexual harassment, and individual employee rights. He is also the author of several articles on email policies, class actions under the ADA, and remedies available under employment law tort claims.

Mr. Manthey's pro bono and community activities have involved the Dallas YMCA Community Services Board of Directors, Bridewell Foundation for Children with Cancer, the Dallas Epilepsy Association, and the White Rock YMCA.

Mr. Manthey received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1979 and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1976.

Mr. Manthey is admitted to practice in Texas.
