Sheri A. Ghatak is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Real Estate Practice. Ms. Ghatak represents clients in connection with commercial real estate transactions, with a focus on acquisitions of improved and unimproved properties, dispositions, and financings of commercial properties.
Ms. Ghatak has represented corporate clients in connection with banking credit facilities including acquisition financings, reorganization and restructuring financing facilities, revolving credit agreements, and bridge loan agreements.
Ms. Ghatak's project finance background includes a term financing project for a wind generation facility in the amount of $75 million and the representation of a multilateral development bank's financing of a loan to a Russian-French joint venture to construct and commission new industrial facilities in Russia and to produce and supply gases to a Russian steel manufacturer.
Ms. Ghatak's international background includes the representation of an institutional lender in connection with its acquisition financing of a hotel in St. Petersburg, the largest single-property acquisition in Russia; the representation of an international five-star hotel in the establishment of several hotel chains in former Soviet republics; the representation of an Austrian bank in its financing of a real estate development company; and the representation of a buyer in the 50% equity interest purchase of a company owning fitness clubs throughout Russia.
Ms. Ghatak earned her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law; her M.A. in Russian studies from Georgetown University; and her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Oregon, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Ghatak is fluent in Russian and English.
Ms. Ghatak is admitted to practice in California and New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
