Michael C. Griffen

Michael C. Griffen is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Energy Practice. Mr. Griffen represents electric utilities, generating companies, power marketers, investors and developers, and other electric industry participants in regulatory, commercial, and transactional matters. He has represented electric industry clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal and state agencies in merger and restructuring proceedings, complaint proceedings, rate proceedings, and a wide variety of other regulatory matters. He also has represented clients in negotiations for agreements for electric interconnection, power sales, energy swaps and derivatives, and other commercial arrangements.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Griffen represented businesses and individuals in commercial litigation matters before federal and state courts, and creditors before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Mr. Griffen also worked as an economist for an electric and gas utility prior to entering the legal profession.

Mr. Griffen is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.
