Craig P. Opperman is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice and brings more than a decade and a half of U.S., European and Asian legal and corporate executive experience to bear on designing and building conception-to-commercialization intellectual property portfolios and strategies for clients.

Since moving to Silicon Valley in 1991, Mr. Opperman has developed a practice that emphasizes Intellectual Property as a core corporate asset and he has worked with numerous clients wishing to protect, capitalize on, commercialize, invest in or acquire intellectual property portfolios. He has worked and represented clients in a number of fields, including software, the Internet, e-commerce; interactive TV, instant messaging, video conferencing, conditional access, and other content delivery mechanisms over a range of platforms; medical devices; disease management and e-health; and semi-conductor equipment.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Opperman served as General Counsel and Chief Intellectual Property Officer of Health Hero Network, Inc., a maker of remote patient monitoring systems. Prior to that, he was Chief Intellectual Property Officer of interactive TV software provider OpenTV, Inc. and its controlling shareholder, Dutch-based MIH Limited.  Before that, he was a partner at a major Silicon Valley-based law firm.

Mr. Opperman is a Stanford Business School SEP alumnus, holds Law and Engineering degrees, and is a graduate of the South African Naval Academy. He regularly publishes and is invited to speak on Intellectual Property issues.
