Ara A. Tucker is Morgan Lewis's director of diversity. In this position, she is responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of programs and initiatives designed to enable the firm to achieve its diversity objectives, including creating and supporting an inclusive community that provides opportunities for success and promotion to all attorneys and responding to the needs and concerns of diverse attorneys.
Ms. Tucker previously served as an associate with Morgan Lewis in its Business and Finance Practice, where she worked on venture financing transactions as well as mergers and acquisitions deal teams for private and public mergers. She also advised clients on securities and corporate governance matters. In 2006, Ms. Tucker left Morgan Lewis to join Princeton University's Office of the Provost as its special assistant. In that role, she focused on matters related to academic and budgetary planning. Most recently, she was the associate director for academic and administrative planning in the Office of the Executive Vice President. As associate director, her duties included leading working groups to implement university-wide initiatives, recommending policy and process improvements, participating in establishing and accomplishing goals in support of the university's diversity and inclusion efforts, and serving, on behalf of the offices of the Provost and Executive Vice President, as the primary liaison to the Development Office and the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Ms. Tucker received her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2004. While there, she served as a student articles development editor for the New York University Review of Law and Social Change, admissions chair of the Black Allied Law Students Association, and a member of OUTLaw. Ms. Tucker was also the recipient of a New York City Bar Fellowship. She received her A.B., cum laude, in the history of art and visual arts from Princeton University in 2001.
