Eric S. Bord is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Bord's practice focuses on immigration and nationality law matters that involve the recruitment, hiring, transfer, and retention of international personnel worldwide. In addition, he has particular knowledge in the areas of immigration-related compliance, investigations, and immigration due diligence for corporate transactions.

Mr. Bord services the immigration-related needs of employers in a variety of industries (financial institutions, technology, energy, manufacturing, media), either managing their immigration programs entirely, or partnering with human resources personnel or in-house counsel in obtaining temporary and permanent visas for business, scientific, and executive personnel. He has a substantial background in all work-related visa classifications and provides strategic guidance to clients at all stages of the employment relationship.

In addition to his inbound and outbound visa practice, Mr. Bord's clients include companies facing government investigations related to immigration compliance and allegations of unlawful employment of undocumented workers. He regularly partners with members of the firm's white collar defense practice to represent corporate clients facing possible civil or criminal charges. Similarly, Mr. Bord counsels clients on immigration-related compliance issues such as I-9 employment eligibility verification, Social Security Administration "no-match" letters, responding to H-1B audits, as well as allegations of immigration-related unfair employment practices. He has litigated numerous matters before the U.S. Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer, and in U.S. District Courts.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Bord was associate director of Latin American and Caribbean programs at The Carter Center. Following law school, he was a full-time consultant to The Carter Center on a variety of initiatives to promote democracy, human rights, and development. He has practiced exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law since the early 1990s.

Mr. Bord is a frequent author and speaker on immigration topics, and he has developed and performed training programs for clients and human resources professionals on many subjects, including I-9 compliance, the labor certification process, and the U.S. visa and immigration system. In addition, he speaks Spanish.

Mr. Bord is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
