Eric S. Bord is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Bord's practice focuses on immigration matters involving the recruitment, hiring, transfer, and retention of international personnel worldwide. In addition, he has particular knowledge in the areas of immigration-related compliance, I-9 and E-Verify rules, immigration investigations, and immigration due diligence for corporate transactions.

Mr. Bord services the immigration-related needs of employers in a variety of industries (financial institutions, technology, energy, manufacturing, and media), either managing their immigration programs entirely or partnering with in-house teams to obtain temporary and permanent visas for business, scientific, and executive personnel. He has a substantial background in all work-related visa classifications and provides strategic guidance to clients at all stages of the employment relationship.

In addition, Mr. Bord heads the firm's Immigration Compliance Practice, counseling companies on I-9 and E-Verify issues and Social Security Administration "no-match" letters, as well as representing clients facing government investigations related to immigration compliance and claims of immigration-related unfair employment practices. He has litigated numerous matters before the U.S. Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer, and in U.S. District Courts.

Mr. Bord participates in the Morgan Lewis/Workforce Change practice team that is devoted to the full spectrum of employment, labor, benefits, and immigration issues related to mergers and acquisitions, reductions in force, and business restructurings. This includes advising companies and private equity investors on immigration-related due diligence issues.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Bord was associate director of Latin American and Caribbean programs at The Carter Center. Following law school, he was a full-time consultant to The Carter Center on a variety of initiatives to promote democracy, human rights, and development. He has practiced exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law since the early 1990s.

Mr. Bord is a frequent author and speaker on immigration topics, and is often quoted by the media on these issues. He has developed and performed training programs for clients and human resources professionals on many subjects, including I-9 compliance, the labor certification process, and the U.S. visa and immigration system. In addition, he speaks Spanish.

Mr. Bord is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
