Sandra Thourot Krider is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Krider focuses her practice on commercial litigation, product liability, and insurance recovery, with a particular emphasis on complex briefing and appeals.

Ms. Krider maintains a broad-based civil trial and appellate practice. Her experience includes business tort matters, securities fraud cases, contractual and complex insurance coverage disputes, toxic torts, defamation cases, false advertising matters, Fair Labor Standards Act actions, and expedited injunction litigation.

Ms. Krider has extensive experience with complex motions and appellate matters in state and federal courts, including oral arguments before the First, Seventh, Ninth, and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals in Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

From 2002-2006, Ms. Krider practiced in the Houston office of Edwards, Burns & Krider LLP, which was recognized by the Houston Young Lawyers Association as the Outstanding Small Law Firm of 2004-2005. Previously, she practiced at a large national law firm, where she maintained a diverse litigation practice.

Ms. Krider is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. She is not certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Representative Transactions

  • Served as lead counsel for several amici curiae in an employment law matter decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.  
     
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of securities fraud matter. 
     
  • Successfully obtained reversal of summary judgment in complex insurance coverage dispute. 
     
  • Successfully obtained and gained affirmance of summary judgment on behalf of world’s third largest cement manufacturer on breach of contract, defamation, and business disparagement claims brought by highly compensated foreign national. 
     
  • Successfully represented basketball legend Michael Jordan in litigation arising from sports memorabilia transactions. 
     
  • Served as lead appellate counsel in a breach of contract case involving an energy trader who claimed he was entitled to a multimillion dollar bonus.
     
  • Represented corporate plaintiffs in an intellectual property suit against a Fortune 500 chemical company, successfully obtaining worldwide trademark and patent rights.
     
  • Defended waste management company against defamation, slander, and tortious interference claims brought by former EPA scientist who had served as an expert witness against the company.
     
  • Represented employer in obtaining injunctions in state and federal court enforcing noncompete agreements; obtained affirmance of one such injunction on appeal.
     
  • Filed amicus briefs at the request of Fortune 500 clients in numerous Texas appellate courts.
     
  • Responded to certiorari petition in Maryland Supreme Court on behalf of Fortune 500 company.
