Amy B. Kalin is Morgan Lewis’s manager of public relations for the West Coast offices of the firm. She works with firm management and practice group leaders to create and execute public relations strategies. Based in San Francisco, Ms. Kalin is the media contact for attorneys operating in Irvine, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, and San Francisco. Her efforts comprise both a geographic and practice group focus aimed at promoting the firm’s business activities, its attorneys, its pro bono and diversity efforts, and its community relationships in the news media.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Kalin spent 14 years reporting, writing, editing, and producing print and television news in Los Angeles and San Francisco for top-market media outlets, including Reuters, the network affiliates of CBS and UPN, City News Service of Southern California, and the Daily Journal—California's largest-circulation daily newspaper covering law business and the justice system.
As a daily news and wire service reporter, Ms. Kalin covered high-profile criminal and civil trials and litigation in state, federal, and appellate courts in Southern California. She also covered breaking, general-interest news, including the Emmy and Oscar awards, the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and other regional events. In television, she wrote and line-produced daily and evening newscasts and was Emmy-nominated for her work as an investigative producer of hard-news features. As an editor at the Daily Journal, Ms. Kalin oversaw a staff of metro reporters covering Southern California courts and the judiciary; she also edited and worked in collaboration with attorneys who contributed byline articles to the paper.
Ms. Kalin earned her B.S. in journalism, with a concentration in news-editorial, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1992.
