Marc R. Baluda is of counsel in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice. Mr. Baluda's practice focuses on middle-market companies seeking liquidity, with a specialty in the use of employee stock ownership plans. He also counsels emerging and established companies seeking financing from venture capital funds, mezzanine lenders, and banks. In addition, Mr. Baluda has worked on motion picture financings, asset-backed financings, municipal project financings, and Real Estate Mortgage Investment Conduits (REMICs).
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Baluda was an associate at the San Francisco office of an international law firm.
Mr. Baluda earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1997. During law school, Mr. Baluda served as a clerk for the U.S. Trade Representative, Office of the General Counsel, and the International Trade Centre in Geneva, Switzerland. He received his B.A., cum laude, in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1994.
Mr. Baluda has litigated before the U.S. Supreme Court in a pro bono matter relating to federalism, and he is a co-author of a journal article on the subject.
