Jon Gerty is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. In this practice, Jon specialises in financial services litigation, regulatory enforcement defense work, and regulatory compliance advice. He has significant experience advising firms in relation to various and complex FSA authorisation issues (including financial promotion), anti-money laundering, MiFID compliance, disputes before the UK Financial Ombudsman Service, banking, life insurance and pensions mis-selling litigation.

Jon was the lead associate in a high-profile piece of banking litigation, which was a fraud claim for £200 million in the Commercial Court. In this role, Jon oversaw the day-to-day of litigation with other members of the team, managed a two-day hearing on issues concerning privilege, and coordinated an appeal of a case management decision of the trial judge to the Court of Appeal.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Jon was an associate at another leading London law firm. At that firm, Jon was a key member of the legal team representing a large UK life insurer in relation to proceedings for alleged general mis-selling, and more specifically, in connection with guaranteed annuity rates. Jon has previously acted for a well known UK newspaper on particular commercial disputes and represented clients in group-action litigation and insider-dealing investigation.

Jon co-wrote an article regarding the Legal and General Financial Services and Markets Tribunal decision and has often been quoted in financial articles for The Financial Times on mis-selling issues. Jon achieved Civil Litigation Higher Rights of Audience in February 2004.

Jon earned his Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law of England and Wales, London in 1999 and his LLB (Hons) from the University of London, King's College in 1998.

Jon is admitted to practice in England and Wales as a Solicitor.
