Blake R. Ellis is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Business and Finance Practice. Mr. Ellis focuses his practice on energy industry transactions, including domestic and international mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Ellis was an associate at an international law firm, where he focused on energy transactions and real estate matters.

Mr. Ellis received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 2006. He received his B.B.A., cum laude, in information and operations management from Texas A&M University in 2000.

Mr. Ellis is admitted to practice in Texas.

  • Represented an international oil and gas company in a $395 million disposition of oil- and gas-producing properties and related assets located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.
  • Represented a Japanese energy and commodities trading corporation in the sale of offshore state and federal oil and gas leases, leasehold interests, and related infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Represented a U.S. oil and gas company in the purchase of a $9 million partnership interest in a domestic entity.
  • Represented an Australian entity in the purchase of membership interests in a U.S. oil and gas company.
  • Represented an international oil and gas corporation in the $65 million purchase of Barnett Shale assets.
  • Represented a U.S. oil and gas company in preparation for the disposition of oil and gas assets located in West Texas. 
  • Represent an international oil and gas company in the purchase of wells in Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Represented a domestic oil and gas company in the preparation of a pipeline lease agreement for a gas distribution system in the Barnett Shale.
