Jean Leygonie is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and managing partner of our Paris office.

Mr. Leygonie, a corporate lawyer who focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, and has an active practice in Competition, Administrative and Environmental law. Mr. Leygonie was identified as a Highly Recommended lawyer in the field of Mergers & Acquisitions by Global Counsel (2003/2004). He is mentioned by Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers (2005-2007) as a "Leading Individual" in the field of Competition/Antitrust and by the Legal Business 2005 Guide of "European Legal Experts" both with regard to "Corporate and Commercial" and "EU and Competition".

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Leygonie was a partner at De Pardieu, Brocas, Maffei & Leygonie, a leading French firm, where he represented international corporations in corporate and antitrust matters relating to mergers and acquisitions. Before moving to De Pardieu in 1999, he practiced at leading Paris firm Moquet Borde. Prior to his positions with these law firms, Mr. Leygonie was a member of the Executive Committee, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Pechiney (1984-1990) and a member of the board of directors of Pechiney International. Prior to joining Pechiney, Mr. Leygonie worked in the New York, Paris and Brussels offices of a New York based international law firm. He is currently a member of the Board of Advisers of the Legal and Tax department of HEC (the French leading business school).

A 1968 graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, Mr. Leygonie received his Licence en droit in 1968, his Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures de Droit Public in 1969 and his LL.M. from Columbia University in 1971.

Mr. Leygonie is fluent in French and English. He is admitted to the Paris and Brussels bars.
