Michelle Park Chiu is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Chiu has defended corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of white collar and securities litigation matters, including civil and criminal antitrust litigation, FINRA arbitration, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, corporate internal investigations, and congressional hearings.
Ms. Chiu's recent matters include:
- Representation of an Asian technology company in civil class action antitrust litigation and state attorney generals' investigations regarding allegations of price fixing.
- Representation of an international securities clearing firm in a FINRA arbitration.
- Representation of a Fortune 500 corporation in derivative and class action civil litigation arising from investigations by the SEC and U.S. Attorney's office regarding allegations of stock options backdating.
- Representation of a hedge fund manager in SEC investigation regarding allegations of securities fraud.
- Pro bono representation of a detained refugee in removal proceedings. Representation resulted in dismissal of all immigration charges and release of client.
Ms. Chiu began in Morgan Lewis’s Washington, D.C. office before transferring to the San Francisco office.
Ms. Chiu received her LL.M. in international and comparative law and her J.D. from the dual-degree program at Duke University School of Law in 2006. While in law school, she was a member of the moot court board and a lead editor for the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law. Ms. Chiu received her B.A., summa cum laude, in Hispanic and continental European literature from Boston University in 2003, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Ms. Chiu is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
