Rachel Ashwood is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Labour and Employment Practice. Rachel regularly advises corporate clients on a wide range of both contentious and noncontentious labour and employment issues. Such issues include international counselling, defending tribunal claims, and supporting corporate transactions and projects. Her recent experience includes advising clients on policies, practices, and strategies to help businesses to deal with the economic downturn, including advising and guiding employers through redundancy programmes, advising on dismissals, changing contractual terms and conditions, and negotiating compromise agreements.

Rachel also serves within the firm’s UK Immigration Practice, assisting global clients with inbound transfers to the UK. She regularly advises on sponsorship licence issues and ensures that employee transfers are dealt with efficiently under Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the Points Based System. Rachel assists clients to create and implement practices to ensure compliance with the prevention of unlawful working legislation, as well as providing guidance on business visitors and extension and settlement applications.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Rachel completed her training contract at a major city firm. Before that, she spent a significant period of time dealing with employment issues while working in-house for a financial institution in London.

Rachel earned her LPC, distinction, from the College of Law, London in 2003; her CPE, commendation, from the City University London in 2002; and her BA from the University of Hull in 1996. Rachel speaks conversational French.

Rachel is admitted to practice in England and Wales as a Solicitor.
