Steven R. Wall is the firm's Managing Partner of Practice and a senior partner in the Labor and Employment Practice. Resident in the Philadelphia office, Mr. Wall is responsible for working with the firm's practice group leaders and other partners on strategic business planning and implementation and practice management. Mr. Wall served as the practice group leader of the international Labor and Employment Practice from 2003 to 2009.
Mr. Wall's client service centers on traditional labor strategic advice, with particular focus on union corporate campaigns and high-profile employment litigation. He has handled dozens of employment litigation matters in federal and state courts and before several administrative agencies, with an emphasis on class-based discrimination, wage and hour, and collective bargaining issues. He has tried to verdict more than a dozen employment cases in federal and state court.
Mr. Wall has been advising clients for more than 25 years on the National Labor Relations Act, various federal and state discrimination laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act, preventive labor relations, executive compensation, and reductions in force. He also regularly represents boards of directors in negotiating senior executive employment or separation agreements. His clients include companies in the service, retail, baking, healthcare, paper and pulp, and banking industries.
Mr. Wall is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (2006–2011) and in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2003–2011). For eight years running, Mr. Wall has been named one of the leading U.S. lawyers for employment law by Chambers, based on the views of clients, peers, and other industry professionals. Chambers recognized his "great presence and command in front of a jury" and commended his ability to act as a strategic advisor. Chambers has also called Mr. Wall "a great relationship partner, and an excellent litigator and negotiator in his own right." Mr. Wall is also a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
Mr. Wall clerked with Judge James Hunter III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He received his J.D. in 1983, summa cum laude, from Cornell Law School, where he served as special project editor of the Cornell Law Review. He earned his B.S. from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University in 1979.
Mr. Wall is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous federal district courts and circuit courts of appeals.
