William S.W. Chang is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Chang focuses his practice on dispositive motions before federal district courts and matters in front of the United States Supreme Court, federal courts of appeals, and the administrative review board of the Department of Labor. His practice spans a wide range of matters, including federal and state preemption, First Amendment, class actions, insurance, and labor and employment.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Chang clerked for Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Judge Dora L. Irizarry of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Before clerking, Mr. Chang was an associate in the commercial-litigation group of a leading international law firm, where his main practice areas included antitrust, commercial contracts, and class actions.

Mr. Chang's pro bono work included representing more than 500,000 children in Tennessee in a suit to secure medical services under Medicaid. He also served as the co-chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York, where he prepared and presented a CLE program on The Art of Asserting Privilege in Federal Civil Litigation.

Mr. Chang earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2005, where he was a senior editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. He also served on the Board of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and was a co-chair of the National Asian Pacific American Conference on Law and Public Policy. He earned his A.B., with departmental honors, in international relations from Stanford University in 2001.

Mr. Chang is admitted to practice in Texas and New York and before the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits; and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
