Elizabeth A. Erskine is a senior attorney in Morgan Lewis’s Litigation Practice. Ms. Erskine has experience litigating complex civil actions in a wide variety of areas. She has handled fiduciary litigation both for and against corporate and individual trustees, nationwide pharmaceutical class actions, insurance bad faith claims, employment litigation, errors and omissions cases, and aviation products liability matters. Ms. Erskine’s current focus is on corporate trust litigation arising out of the subprime mortgage crisis.
Ms. Erskine has litigated cases before state and federal courts, handling all aspects from initial pleading stages, law and motion, discovery, trial preparation, and trial, both for defendants and plaintiffs, including obtaining a seven-figure jury verdict in federal court that was upheld on appeal.
Ms. Erskine was formerly a vice-president and senior counsel with one of the largest banks in the United States and was in charge of supervising litigation involving the bank in its capacity as trustee. She was also counsel with a leading national law firm in its role as national coordinating defense counsel in pharmaceutical class actions, and she was a partner with a large California trial firm, where she represented clients in a broad range of matters.
Ms. Erskine earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1986 and her B.S., with high honors, from Northeastern University in 1979.
Ms. Erskine is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California.
