Scott E. Ross is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Ross defends and counsels employers in many aspects of labor and employment law, with an emphasis on wage and hour matters, discrimination claims, whistleblower laws, employment contracts, and managing the defense of class actions. He has handled the representation of employers in employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings, including claims for wage and hour violations, contract disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment. His recent focus has been defending class and collective action wage and hour claims.
In addition to his litigation background, Mr. Ross also counsels employers on compliance with federal and state employment laws, including advising on personnel policies, employee performance and disciplinary issues, reductions in force, drafting noncompetition, and other agreements relating to the employer-employee relationship, including personnel actions, protection of proprietary information, harassment, and other workplace investigations. In particular, Mr. Ross has advised several clients with respect to compliance with the overtime requirements of state and federal wage and hour laws, state wage payment statutes, and other wage and hour requirements. Mr. Ross has also spoken on many of these subjects.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Ross was an associate in a New Jersey-based employment law firm. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2001. During law school, he interned at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Philadelphia. Prior to law school, he spent two years as a systems consultant in Fairfax, Virginia. He earned his B.A., cum laude, in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.
Mr. Ross is admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
